Cloud Storage Providers and Off-Site Data Backups
We don’t need to explain the importance of data backups because the importance speaks for itself. We all want business continuity and the prevention of data loss. Regardless of what type of data you’re working with, chances are good that you already know it’s important to back it up. Just like exercise, drinking enough water, and complete nutrition, while you know it’s important that doesn’t mean you do it on a regular basis.
Do you want to keep your data on a thumb drive? That might not be such a good idea for long-term storage since they can break and get lost (or run through the washer or eaten by the dog). That, and thumb drives tend to not have the space required for most businesses to keep data.
If you’re like many small businesses, you’ve considered cloud storage before. Perhaps you use a cloud storage service that doesn’t necessarily link with IT backup services. It’s true that cloud storage has become very popular because of the solutions it offers that no other data storage medium can match. If your business relies on the preservation of data, however, you might want to look into an IT service provider that can automate data backups to cloud storage.
